DMA DISCS client Ali Milner is one of 8 finalists on CBC, Cover Me Canada,  which airs live on Sundays at 9 pm.  Last night the first band went home, so there are only 7 left.  Each week, the band is given a Canadian cover song.  They are supposed to re-interpret the song and make it their own.  This week Ali will be doing a hit by the Crash Test Dummies.

The judges choose which band goes home.  The band with the highest social media score has immunity.  Obviously immunity will become more important as time goes on and there are fewer bands in the competition.  So it is important to build her followers every week.  Here is what you can do to help us out:

  • Go to cbc.ca/covermecanada and download the facebook app to vote
  • Vote everyday on this app, until voting closes on Fridays at midnight EST
  • Follow Ali’s Twitter @CMC_Ali and re-tweet the ones you like

Jaclyn has just returned home from a glorious trip out east to Montreal and Toronto.  Thanks to everyone who came out and/or passed along our flyer to friends.

She is super excited to be playing at the Cellar Jazz Club this Saturday night, July 23 with her sextet. The show is almost like a 2nd CD release concert so if you missed their show in April at The Cultch then this is the perfect opportunity to hear all of the music from the new album! Jaclyn will be playing with her regular band which includes a horn section and Vancouver’s best talent.

Official CD Launch is in Vancouver on April 6 at The Cultch (Vancouver East Cultural Centre). This is a special show as we have many several guest musicians performing with us that played with us on the album.  Show starts at 8pm.

The rest of the tour unfolds as we head to beautiful Silverton, BC on April 7. We played the Silverton Gallery during our fall 2010 tour and had an incredible time hanging out with the local Kootenay folks, we just can’t wait to go back. We head further into the mountains and play Invermere on April 8 and then Creston on April 9. We head over to Alberta and play a show in Lethbridge on April 11 and Medicine Hat on April 12. We say hello to Saskatchewan with a few shows: Moose Jaw on April 13 and Rosthern on April 14. I’m particularly excited about the Rosthern show since it is the small town where my dad grew up. I can’t wait to reunite with my many many family members!

We continue onwards to one of Canada’s best jazz clubs, the Yardbird Suite in Edmonton on April 15. This is a lovely venue that we are really looking forward to. We hit another amazing jazz club, the Beat Niq Jazz Club in Calgary on April 16 and then head back to BC for an intimate house concert in Kelowna on April 17. With one last day to enjoy being on the road we will perform our last show and return to another place we visited on our last tour: Kamloops on April 19.
